Over the last few years there has been a new class of application available for OS X that has revolutionized user interaction on the Mac. These new applications can best be described as launchers (though this belies the their full capabilities). Using simple triggers (mostly keyboard-based but also using menus or other interface elements), these launcher applications allow you to quickly access your Address Book data (or data from other contact managers) and act on that data. With Dialectic installed, you can have these launchers send phone numbers to Dialectic for dialing.
Five of the most popular launchers are:
- Alfred by Running with Crayons.
- Butler by Many Tricks.
- Google Quick Search Box by Google.
- LaunchBar by Objective Development.
- Quicksilver by Blacktree.
The following sections describe how to integrate Dialectic with Alfred, Butler, Google Quick Search Box, LaunchBar, & Quicksilver.
