Simply reviewing the Call Log is beneficial to remind you of calls you have made and received. Adding notes & flags to your call entries is also helpful. To make the log even more useful, you can act on the individual call entries. To do this, select a single call in the call list and then, using the action menu at the bottom of the call list (above the detail view separator bar on the far left corner) select an action for the entry (these actions can also be triggered by using the keyboard equivalents shown in the action menu itself).
The actions available for call entries are:
- Dial Selection. Sends the phone number and associated name (if available) to be dialed by Dialectic using the current Locations & Dialing Rules.
- Delete Selection. Permanently removes the entry from your log. Note: this is a permanent action so be careful! To clear the entire log, use the corresponding menu item further down in the action menu.
- Add Selection to Quick Dial Numbers. Appends the selected phone number and associated name (if available) to the bottom of the Quick Dial list.
- Add Selection to Address Book. Appends the selected phone number and associated name (if available) as a contact to your Address Book database managed by the Contacts application (and opens the contact in Contacts for further editing). If the number is already associated with an existing contact in your Address Book, that contact’s card will open in Contacts but it will not open in edit mode.
- Update Selection Name from Lookup Source. Use this action to search for the number of this call in the Lookup source repository. If the number is found in your contact manager, the name associated with that number will be automatically added to the name field. See Auto-Entering Missing Name Information for more information.
The other items in the action menu are used on the Call Log in aggregate such as clearing the log or changing the format of the date & time field.
