Vonage Dial Method

Note: Vonage has discontinued their third-party call control service and, as such, Dialectic can no longer dial the Vonage service using the Vonage Dial Method. The information below is now out-of-date and is kept simply for legacy reference. While you cannot use the Vonage Dial Method to dial your Vonage service, if you are using Vonage with an Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA), then you could use a standard analog modem (not a cable or DSL modem) to dial your Vonage service with the Modem Dial Method. Instead of connecting the modem to your landline, you would connect it to the ATA (this may require a splitter to connect your phone and the modem to the ATA port concurrently).

Legacy Documentation

If you’re a Vonage VoIP subscriber, you can dial through Vonage with Dialectic to place a call over the Internet. This feature is implemented through Vonage’s third-party call control service (https://secure.click2callu.com/). When you dial, Vonage will call you at your Vonage number; when you answer, Vonage will dial the requested number to complete the call.

Note: Using the Vonage Dial Method will work for most calls, however, International Long-Distance calls may not be handled by the Vonage third-party call control service. Please contact Vonage for more information regarding their third-party call control service and International Long-Distance calls.

To help configure Dialectic for dialing with the Vonage Dial Method, we offer a free script on the Resources page (see the “General Dialing Configuration” section):

You can also access this script from within Dialectic itself by selecting the “Configuration Utilities…” menu item from the Main Menu.
