iTunes, DVD Player, & Messages (often referred to as iApps in this documentation) can be controlled by Dialectic when various triggers are executed. You can configure these applications in the following ways:
- iTunes. Pause current track or set the volume to a specific level. These actions are only applied when iTunes is launched & playing when a trigger is executed.
- DVD Player. Pause playing DVD. This will only be applied when DVD Player is launched & playing when a trigger is executed.
- Messages. Change the current status string. This will only be applied is Messages [iChat] is launched and connected when a trigger is executed.
The triggers that Dialectic uses to modify these applications as described above are:
- Dialing. To set these options, see the Dialing section of the Dialectic preferences. After dialing, you can have Dialectic revert any of the modifications made to these applications when dialing by using the “Restore System to Pre-Dialing” state feature from the main menu or the Dialing preferences
- Incoming Call Detection. To set these options, see the Incoming Call Actions section of the Notification preferences.
Also, using the various launch AppleScript actions (preprocessing, AppleScript Dial Method, before dialing, after dialing, & on incoming call detection), you could further fine tune the control of these applications (and others not directly controlled by Dialectic such as other media players) by sending them AppleScript commands.
