The Standard method uses the Bluetooth dial-up networking (DUN) channel to communicate with your Bluetooth phone. First, make sure you’ve paired your Bluetooth phone with your computer! (You do this in the Bluetooth system preference pane; to help you, the Dialectic Bluetooth configuration pane contains an Open Bluetooth Preferences button that opens the Bluetooth system preference pane.) Once paired, choose your Bluetooth phone using the Choose Phone button. If you have trouble with this setup, it can help to enable a serial port on your device using the dial-up networking service (select your paired device in the Bluetooth preferences and select “Edit Serial Ports...” from the action menu at the bottom of the screen).
Note: Some devices, including the iPhone, do not have the most robust Bluetooth support. For these devices, it may only be possible to dial them on the headset channel. This means paired headsets will be disconnected at dial time. However, Dialectic immediately severs its connection to the phone after dialing so simply pressing the talk button on your headset after the call is initiated will reconnect it and allow you to conduct the conversation with the headset. An exception to this is if your are monitoring your device for incoming calls. If this is the case, after dialing, Dialectic will maintain the connection to the phone. If you use a headset with your device that can only be monitored on the headset channel (again, this applies to the iPhone) we recommend not using Dialectic to monitor this device for incoming calls.
To help configure Dialectic for dialing with the Bluetooth Phone Dial Method, we offer free scripts on the Resources page (see the “General Dialing Configuration” section):

You can also access these scripts from within Dialectic itself by selecting the “Configuration Utilities…” menu item from the Main Menu.

Choose Phone. Click this button to select a phone that has previously been paired with this machine.
Use Alternate Bluetooth Dial Command. When dialing, Dialectic will alert the phone using the standard “AT” command. Some phones, however, use the alternate “AT+CDV” command to initiate a voice call. Check with your phone’s documentation for the appropriate command to use with your phone.
Open Bluetooth Preferences. Open the System Preferences application and select the Bluetooth preferences to allow you to pair or customize your Bluetooth devices.
